On His Retirement and Contributions to Optimisation, Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis
African Scientific Reports (ASR), an open-access journal published by the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (NSPS), is pleased to announce a Special Issue in honour of Professor Olabode Matthias Bamigbola, Professor of Mathematics at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
This Special Issue celebrates his long and distinguished career in optimisation, mathematical modelling, numerical analysis, and their applications to real-world problems across physical, biological, environmental, engineering, and socio-economic systems.
We invite high-quality submissions from researchers working in areas connected to his research themes. All manuscripts will undergo rigorous peer review, following the editorial standards of ASR.

About the Honouree
Professor Olabode Matthias Bamigbola is a Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin.
His academic work spans:
Optimisation and optimal control;
Mathematical modelling of real-world systems, including: electric power networks; pollution and environmental systems; disease dynamics; biological and ecological systems; finance and capital asset management;
Numerical analysis and computational methods, including: finite element methods; Chebyshev-based methods; numerical treatment of differential equations.
He has contributed significantly to:
The development and application of optimisation methods in ℝⁿ;
Power systems modelling and minimisation of losses on transmission lines;
Environmental and pollution modelling;
Biomathematics;
Financial mathematics.

Professor Bamigbola has also played notable roles in industrial and applied mathematics in Africa, including involvement in the Simons Foundation African Mathematics Project and the International Mathematical Union (IMU) initiatives.

This Special Issue aims to bring together new research and comprehensive surveys in applied and computational mathematics, as well as applications across scientific domains where mathematical models and optimisation play key roles.

Manuscripts should be submitted via the ASR website following the Authors’ Guidelines:

Originality Requirement
Submitted manuscripts must be original, not published previously, and not under review elsewhere, except for substantially extended conference papers.

Peer Review
All manuscripts will undergo single-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers, evaluating scientific quality, originality, significance, and clarity.

Continuous Online-First Publication
Accepted papers are published online immediately after production and later compiled into hard-copy issues.

Article Processing Charge (APC)
ASR is an open-access journal of NSPS. APCs are:
₦25,000 (80 USD) — NSPS active members
₦40,000 (140 USD) — non-members / inactive members

Language and Formatting
Manuscripts must be written in clear English. Authors may be asked to revise for clarity.
